Chashma-Aiyub in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Information about Mausoleum

Chashma-Aiyub Mausoleum, Bukhara

This is an oblong, multi-celled structure built in the twelfth century and rebuilt several times since then. It has compartments of varying shapes and sizes. Interestingly, it is topped by a conical cupola, which is unusual and atypical of Bukhara architecture. It is said that the cupola marks the main apartment which has a wellspring source, and that this is the source of the name "Chashma-Aiyub", which means "love spring". Due to the atypical design, this is one of the most interesting and unique examples of architecture seen on the tour of Uzbekistan.
