Ateni Sioni Temple is nestled between green rolling hills near the town of Gori. An integral part of the tours to Georgia, the famous medieval structure was built in the seventh century. The architecture of Ateni Sioni Temple is simple yet lovely, decorated on the exterior with a multitude of engraved stone ornamentation, while the interior walls are covered in beautiful ancient mural paintings dating back to at least the eleventh century. Although much more distinct in appearance than the Atskuri, the Ateni Sioni also blends in with the gently curving hillside landscape.
