Mtskheta, Georgia
Mtskheta - the ancient capital city of Georgia, according to legend, was established by Mtskhetos, the son of Japhet. From an aerial view, the city is a pretty collage of various shades of blue: Aquamarine river bordered by lush greenery growing beneath grey-blue mountains, and receding into a blue hazy mist until meeting the paler blue sky. In Mtskheta the traveler can find the large cathedral which was built on the very site of the first Georgian Christian church, which according to legend is where the shroud of Jesus was brought after his crucifixion. Tours to Georgia often include a visit to this historic city of Mtskheta.
