Built in 1213 during the reign of Lasha-Giorgi, Pitarety Cathedral is one of the best examples of Georgian architecture to be found on the tour of Georgia. It's more sophisticated and defined angles make Pitarety Cathedral stand out among the hills more so than other historical monuments, creating an elegant and picturesque scene. The green and turquoise dome is pointed and yet in symphony with the natural scenery of the mountains of Georgia. The outer walls of Pitarety Cathedral are covered in exquisitely carved stone ornamentation. The interior is full of vibrant frescoes representing various periods of Georgian history.
