Jaipur

Called the "Pink City" because of its unique rose-colored sandstone architecture, and located one hour by air from Delhi, Jaipur offers elephant rides and magnificent buildings erected by local maharajahs. Not to be missed are the Palace of the Winds, one of the most photographed monuments in India, and the Jantar Mantar, a well-preserved observatory built by former prince Jai Singh II, who was also an astronomer. A few miles out of toun is the Amber Palace and Fort, which was built in eighteenth century and is one of the best presetved in the country. Other regions on interest include:
  • Kashmir, located in the north of India with breathtaking views and great trekking adventures in the Himalayas.
  • Goa on the west coast, best knows for its many palm-fringed beaches.
  • Madras, known for its many ancient churches and other relics of Indian Christianity.
