A Culinary Journey Across the Five Stans and the Caucasus

Food is one of the greatest joys of travel, and nowhere is that truer than across the Five Stans and the Caucasus — regions where centuries of history, trade, and tradition have created a uniquely rich culinary tapestry. In our tours, you’ll not only taste these authentic dishes, but you’ll also enjoy the freedom to choose your own meals from the menu — unlike many group tours with pre-ordered meals.

Each restaurant meal includes a salad, soup, main course, and non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, or soft drinks. You can typically select one salad, one soup, and two main courses of your choice — with tea, coffee, and bread offered without limit.

Because of this unique dining format, our tours can truly be called culinary journeys — more than a tour with a souvenir, we give you the chance to explore the region through its history and landscapes, and also through its vibrant, diverse cuisine.

🇺🇿 TOP 10 Uzbek Food You Need to Try!

Kazakhstan

Known for its nomadic heritage, Kazakh cuisine is hearty and deeply traditional. The national dish, beshbarmak — boiled meat served over wide noodles — symbolizes hospitality and unity. Don’t miss baursaks (fried dough pieces) and kazy, a sausage made from horse meat, which is a true delicacy.

Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, Chinese and Central Asian influences blend beautifully. The most famous dish, lagman, is a hand-pulled noodle soup with meat and vegetables — a flavorful legacy of the Silk Road. Originally from the Dungan people, lagman has become a staple across Central Asia.

Uzbekistan

No trip to Uzbekistan is complete without tasting plov, the pride of Uzbek cuisine, and samsa, flaky pastries filled with meat or vegetables. Each region offers its own variation — from Samarkand’s slow-cooked plov to Bukhara’s rich, aromatic version.

For something different, try the unique cuisine of Central Asian Koreans — one of the world’s largest Korean diasporas. Deported to Central Asia in 1937 from Russia’s Far East, they created a remarkable fusion cuisine found nowhere else. Their signature dish, kuksi (or kuksu), is a chilled noodle soup with vegetables, bursting with flavor and perfect for hot days — often paired with pegodya, steamed buns stuffed with cabbage and meat.

Tajikistan

In Tajikistan, simple ingredients come together to form hearty, flavorful meals. A must-try dish is qurutob, made with flatbread, onions, and yogurt sauce — traditionally eaten by hand and shared among family.

Turkmenistan

Turkmen cuisine is rich yet unpretentious. Try dograma, a comforting dish of finely chopped meat, bread, and onions soaked in broth, or pichakli samsa, a flaky pastry filled with herbs and meat.

Azerbaijan

On the Caucasus side, Azerbaijani cuisine dazzles with its dolma (stuffed grape leaves) and kebab, grilled to perfection over open flame — both testaments to the region’s love for bold spices and smoky flavors.

Georgia

Georgia is the land of hospitality and feast. You can’t leave without trying khinkali (juicy dumplings) and khachapuri, the famous cheese-filled bread. Each region has its own version — and all are delicious.

Armenia

Armenian cuisine celebrates the grill with khorovats, mouthwatering barbecued meats often enjoyed with fresh herbs, lavash, and homemade wine. For dessert, try gata, a sweet pastry filled with butter and sugar, symbolizing good luck and comfort.
